Chelsea's chaotic win over Man Utd leaves X in disbelief

What a surprising game we had here. No one could have predicted what happened in this match.

However, it's important to note – the quality of the match was not up to par. Chelsea overcame Manchester United 4-3 on Thursday night, but it was more a case of both teams trying their best to lose rather than one side clinching the win.

The game seemed set to be a wild one from the very start. After only four minutes, Conor Gallagher put Chelsea in the lead, managing to guide the ball into the net after a deflected cross from Malo Gusto hit him off the heels of Raphael Varane.

The Gallagher who, according to some, shouldn't be a starter for Chelsea? Talk about an unappreciative fanbase.

Conor Gallagher's opening goal (3:38) was Chelsea's quickest Premier League goal against Manchester United since Pedro scored after 30 seconds in October 2016.

Even before United could pose a real threat, they conceded a penalty - Marc Cucurella’s heels were clipped by Antony, and the referee promptly pointed to the penalty spot. Concurrently, Cole Palmer silenced the away supporters who had been singing 'City reject' by scoring confidently from the 12-yard line.

Interestingly, Antony's ongoing involvement with Chelsea's goals – such as the conceded penalty- is more than what he has contributed to Manchester United in the Premier League this season.

It's worth wondering if the people who decided to pay €95m for Antony are now having second thoughts.

Celebrating Palmer's 17th goal of the season was Malo Gusto.

Palmer certainly has an impressive record this season – scoring his 14th goal and being involved in 10 goals in 2024. Also, he has helped to score in his last 6 home games.

While Chelsea seemed comfortably in control and hunting for a third goal, they were the primary cause of their own downfall in the first half. Moises Caicedo’s poor handling of the ball led to Alejandro Garnacho taking possession, who promptly ran forward and manoeuvred the ball past Djordje Petrovic, putting United on the scoreboard.

A lot of mocking comments have been made about Caicedo’s performance.

Alejandro Garnacho, the U19 player has scored 6 times in this PL season, none of his peers have more.

United overcame their difficulties and managed to even the scores; Diogo Dalot delivered a cross which was headed into the goal at the far post by an unmarked Bruno Fernandes.

In spite of half a dozen Chelsea midfield players in the penalty box and only two United players in the area, Fernandes was somehow left unmarked and managed to score an equaliser.

United started the second half well and almost came out on top when Harry Maguire nearly scored after dribbling through the Chelsea defense.

Maguire's attempt to score left many in splits.

The game swung in United’s favor midway through the second half when Antony recorded his first assist of the season. He delivered a brilliant cross with the outside of his boot, which was met by the head of Garnacho.

Some felt that Antony's dribbling past Curcurella seemed uncharacteristic of his time in the Premier League.

In contrast, some argue that Antony's performance has been his best for Man Utd.

Alejandro Garnacho seems to be in a league of his own.

Chelsea presented a lackluster performance until the sixth minute into the second half's extra time. This was when Noni Madueke was tripped over by Dalot in what appeared to be a minimal contact. The VAR decided to uphold the referee's decision after a lengthy deliberation.

There's been great shock and disapproval with the decision to declare Madueke's tumble as a penalty.

Palmer once again scored from the penalty spot to even the scores for Chelsea, but that was not the end.

A shot from Carney Chukwuemeka immediately following the kick-off was deflected, and from the corner that followed, Palmer scored the latest winning goal in Premier League history.

It was a moment of pure chaos and excitement.

With most of the team pointing at Palmer instead of celebrating with him, it made for a hilarious scene.

This win over Manchester United marks Chelsea's first Premier League victory against them since November 2017. Undoubtedly, Cole Palmer takes the crown.

100:39 - Cole Palmer’s hat-trick goal for Chelsea tonight timed at 100:39 was the latest winning goal on record (since 2006-07) in a Premier League game. Mayhem.

What now for United? How do they pick themselves off the canvas again? Why can't they seem to stop the rot?

99:17 - Manchester United were leading in this game at 99:17, the latest a side has ever led in a Premier League match they’ve gone on to lose. Collapse.

Mark Goldbridge rages at Chelsea’s fourth goal. 🤯#CHEMUN

I CELEBRATE EVERY SINGLE MANCHESTER UNITED LOSS. IT IS EVERYTHING. MORE THAN LIFE ITSELF. EVERYDAY YOUR MISERY FILLS ME WITH IMMENSE JOY. I CANNOT EVEN MUSTER THE WORDS RIGHT NOW. YOU ALL DESERVE TO SUFFER FOR ETERNITY. I WILL FOREVER LIVE THIS DOWN. THANK YOU MANCHESTER UNITED

Manchester United led 97th minute on Saturday and 97th minute on Thursday. Both against teams in the bottom half. They got 1 point from it. If there is a week that sums up that group of players and coaching staff, there it is.
