Jelly Roll Flaunts Fitness Routine After 100-Pound Weight Loss, Predicts Unrecognizable Transformation Next Year
Jelly Roll is making major changes when it comes to his weight and said he’ll look like a completely different person next year.
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, 39, showed off his workouts and new diet routine in an Instagram Reel posted on Tuesday, October 22. Chef Ian Larios, the man responsible for the musician’s nutritional plan, revealed that Jelly Roll has lost over 100 pounds through workouts such as basketball, boxing, and walking.
“That’s why next year when y’all see me, you won’t recognize me,” Jelly Roll said in the footage. “I’m going to get under a pile of weights in a way that I’ve never have.”
In addition, the chef explained that the “Son of a Sinner” singer is on a high-protein diet, indulging in healthier dupes of a southern favorite, Nashville hot chicken.
“Chicken breast and some potato flour, and a little bit of rice flour,” he said as he detailed the recipe. “We got some french fries here boiling in bone broth, helps the protein in it, but also makes it have that nice crunch to it. We air fry it and it tricks your brain into thinking this is like, ‘that nice greasy Nashville deep-fried, hot chicken,’ and he’s going to feel like he’s eating at home. It’s healthy. It’s full of protein and helps him stay on track.”
Meanwhile, one of Jelly Roll’s favorite pre-show snacks consists of bananas, honey and dark chocolate.
Jelly Roll opened up about his 100-pound weight loss during an appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” and detailed how he’d been inspired to start “focusing” on his health after hitting the milestone.
“It’s been all food. I’m working out, I’m walking. But what I’ve learned is as I’m losing the weight … by nature I just want to go walking and do more stuff cause I’m lighter. I feel better,” the Tennessee native explained on October 11. He attributed his band members and crew for the exercise motivation as they have “been playing basketball three days a week” before performing at numerous NBA areas.
Calling it the “coolest act of love,” the dad of two got visibly emotional when he revealed, “My whole band has watched me fight addiction … they’ve watched me figure my life out slowly and they knew the last mountain for me was food.”
Jelly referred to himself as a “lifelong food addict,” having reached a peak weight of 557 pounds. “Like a drug addict, I would scan the room and make a count of everything I could eat,” he recalled. “The other day I was in my green room, and somebody picked up a piece of candy and said, ‘Do you want one of these?’ and I didn’t even know the candy was in there. And that was the first time I was like, ‘I’m onto something. Like, I’m f–king winning right now.’ I didn’t even scan for candy. It’s not even a thought now when I walk into places. That used to be literally one of the first things I’d look for. I’ve had to make so many different small habit changes.”
Guessing Game
The “Need a Favor” singer’s journey has been marked by ups and downs. In 2018, he struggled with overeating and regained 60 pounds he had previously lost. Determined to “start over and fight my lifelong demon again,” the country star hired a health mentor and began sharing his weekly weight loss progress on YouTube.
