Flight Mishap: Southwest Airlines Disputes Savannah Chrisley's Account of Incident
Southwest Airlines is responding to allegations made by Growing Up Chrisley star, Savannah Chrisley, about her treatment while attempting to board a flight at New York's LaGuardia airport. In a statement to People, a representative for Southwest said they are "aware" of the video Chrisley shared on her Instagram Story and are "looking into the situation." However, the statement went on to note that their initial reports indicate a different version of events, as Chrisley arrived late at the gate and insulted an employee after being asked to gate-check her bag. The airline denied Chrisley boarding on her original flight but rebooked her on a later flight the same day.
Chrisley documented the incident on her Instagram Story, beginning by saying, "Alright guys, so I officially know why everyone hates Southwest so much. I mean absolutely hates it — the worst thing in the entire world." She claimed an airline attendant told her she had to check her carry-on bag, and when she requested to see if it would fit on the plane before doing so, the attendant called her an "unruly passenger" and allegedly threw her off the flight. Chrisley said a pilot intervened and found space for her bag, but when she called the attendant an "a--hole," he threw her off the flight.
Chrisley, who became the primary guardian of her niece and legal guardian of her brother after her parents were sent to prison for tax fraud, claimed she told the attendant she had to get home to her 10-year-old niece, but he responded that he "didn't care." Despite the drama, Chrisley was put on a connecting flight through Baltimore and ended up with a row to herself.
