Halle Berry Responds to Ex-Husband's Claims About Her Parenting Amid 59th Birthday Celebrations

While a guest on the “All the Smoke” podcast, one of actress Halle Berry’s ex-husbands, David Justice, talked about his decision “to leave her” in 1996.

According to Justice, who said it was Berry who asked him to marry her, he “decided to leave her”  after three years of marriage. He continued, saying one of his main concerns about Berry was that the actress didn’t “really seem motherly.”

“So I’m looking at my mom, and I’m a Midwest guy, so in my mind, I’m thinking, a wife at that time should cook, clean,” Justice revealed, to which the host described as “traditional.”

“And then I’m thinking, Okay, if we have kids, you know, is this the woman I want to have kids with,” Justice continued, “and build a family with, and at that time, as a young guy, she don’t cook, don’t clean, don’t really seem like motherly and then we start having issues.”

The clip of Justice’s recollection of their relationship made its rounds on the internet, receiving a lot of backlash.

Several days later, Halle Berry herself responded.

On her 59th birthday, Berry took to her verified X, formerly known as Twitter, account, to share a subtle, yet pointed response to Justice’s podcast episode.

Alongside a photo of herself and her current partner, Van Hunt, laying in bed with a snack plate between them. “Phew…!” she captioned the photo. “Cooking, cleaning and mothering.”

The response has since been viewed more than 2.6 million times with thousands of fans cheering Berry on.

“AND DO , AND DID AHAAAAAAAAAAAAA,” rapper Cardi B commented under the post.

“10/10 clap back,” another commenter noted.

During their marriage from 1993 to 1997, Justice was an outfielder in the MLB.   She later filed for a temporary restraining order against Justice saying that she feared for her safety.

Berry would later marry Eric Benét in 2001 until 2005 and Olivier Martinez in 2013 to 2016.

Berry welcomed her first child, a daughter named Nahla, between her second and third marriage, with then partner Gabriel Aubry. She also shared a son Maceo-Robert, who she shares with Martinez.
