The name Carrie-Anne Moss may conjure up immediate Matrix references, but for the Canadian-born mother, wife and actress, the day-to-day focuses on a quiet life of mindfulness at home in New Hampshire with her family. Currently starring alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in the much-anticipated Season 2 of Netflix’s Fubar, Moss recently chatted with us about meditation, yoga and her summer plans.

I think the show in itself is just such a fun romp. The storyline is hilarious. The characters and the actors and all the regular characters that work alongside Arnold are all just so amazing. I play a new character that comes in and is an old flame of Arnold’s. We have a lot of fun. I just think it’s a really fun, action-packed, crazy ride.

Yes, it was. I did most of my scenes with Arnold. Of course, what a treat and an opportunity to work with him. Of course, the acting scenes were fun. We did some dancing, we did some fighting together, but sitting in the chairs before and after takes, having a coffee, talking, that was really amazing to have that experience, to sit with him, get to know him like that.

I think it’s pretty simple. I’ve dialed it down a lot. I used to have a pretty strong meditation yoga practice, and I still have a practice in that, but I really have changed my focus of my spiritual practice coming into just the basic things I do in my day, like washing the dishes and taking care of my home. I’ve just had this shift in my thinking where I see that all of those things are an opportunity. I think anytime you meditate or you have a yoga practice, obviously, you’re looking to align yourself with something higher than you to bring something, connect you to yourself.

I realized as I became a mom and I’m a wife, my oldest son is almost 22, that all these mundane things I do are opportunities to connect to myself. That’s what I’ve really shifted, and I found that to be quite profound. I enjoy the days where I’m cleaning my house all day. It’s a time to slow down and connect with this home that homes this home. I see it as a real sacred place. It’s sacred because I call it that, and I decide that. That’s been really a change for me.

I think, as an actor, we go away and we work. I lived in LA for 30-something years, and I very rarely worked in LA. Most of my work time is on location. Now that I live in a more rural location, it’s just slower-paced. It’s very restorative. It’s a lot simpler. The complication sometimes comes in actually leaving to go to work because it’s such a jump, it’s such a change, but every time I do it, I realize how good I am at doing that and shifting gears and getting out of my comfort zone. It’s important to stretch ourselves because sometimes I think I just don’t want to leave my beautiful oasis.

Yes. I use a line called Living Libations. Nadine Artemis is the founder of that company. She’s also one of my dearest friends. I just fell in love with her products. Then I stalked her to become besties because I just wanted to know who’s making these products that are just so high vibe! She’s just as incredible as you would imagine she is. I use all of her products. Then the other thing that I would say is a really good bag of magnesium that I just will throw in my bath. I do that almost every night, if I can. I’m a big bath person. It’s a simple thing, but it really does help.

Absolutely. If you have a bath, anyone can do it, even if it’s just five minutes. It is so replenishing.

I have a lot going on in terms of promoting Fubar, so I’m trying not to get too ahead of myself. I’m going to LA to do all of that. Then just executing different things that my children are doing. I’m going to Vancouver for a wedding, which is where I’m from, which I haven’t been in years. I’m going to slide some kind of trip in there, but I don’t know yet. I’m not really good at planning those things, but I need to get all the work stuff done before I book it. I have to get all done first. Mentally, I have to be done with work before I start thinking of vacation.
