Criticism Aims at Kelly Ripa for Alleged Strict Diet: 'Her Comments are Starting to Make Me Hungry'
Famous morning show host, Kelly Ripa is recognized for her strict diet discipline. The host of the morning talk show once made a video for Harpers BAZAAR in 2020 elaborating her daily diet. However, the video has since been removed. A TikTok user managed to find it on Facebook and shared it, with Kelly’s relatively low-food intake shocking her audience.
The 53-year-old Kelly reflected in the video that she starts her day by drinking a glass of water mixed with a green daily powder for "alkalizing" her digestive system.
She follows that by having a large cup of coffee with a touch of ghee which she uses to aid in the consumption of her vitamin and supplement intake, with a regular menu consisting of a foundational multivitamin, ginger, a probiotic, and Omega-3.
According to Kelly, she only needs these two intakes before she heads out to host Live! but does not consume any "chewing food" before appearing on camera.
The Pennsylvania native shared that, post show, she treats herself to a green apple chopped up mixed with two tablespoons of almond butter and a dash of cinnamon. She blends this concoction “like a porridge,” which she declared is her first “chewable” food in a day.
After finishing her meal, Kelly proceeds to her workout routine, the details of which she did not disclose, but emphasised her dedication to it “seven days a week.” This is succeeded by her lunch that is typically comprised of “a hefty salad of microgreens topped with avocado and toasted nuts.”
Kelly's dinner usually consists of a “smaller version of the same salad” served at lunch and paired with in-season vegetables and a plant protein such as tofu.
Kelly cited almonds and cashews as her go-to snacks, limiting her intake to only a handful and eaten twice per day.
The TV luminary shared that she prefers to avoid “cheat meals” as it tends to lead to a “cheat lifestyle.” However, Kelly admitted that she may sometimes give in to a single chocolate-covered almond or cashew, considering there is something healthy in the indulgence.
Kelly's seemingly constrained diet elicited mixed reactions from fans in the comments section. Some expressed their hunger and love for bread, while others confessed their preference for "chewable food."
Whereas one fan confessed, “I followed Kelly Ripa's diet for almost 20 years … I was thin, but miserable," another fan recalled Kelly’s remark on having to workout all day if she consumed a corn dog and commented, “Struck me as sad.”
Several users questioned her vitamin routine based solely on coffee and her seemingly scarcity in daily protein consumption.
A few followers expressed their contentment in devouring anything they craved, with one proudly admitting to viewing the video whilst eating M&M's, and another having no regret about consuming lasagna at 11 a.m.
Kelly finally admitted that she modifies her meal plan annually but maintains the same menu throughout the ensuing 365 days. In 2015, she admitted to a preference for avocado toast. However, it was no more a part of her daily diet by the time she made the video five years later.
