Zuri Hall Reveals Her Go-To Makeup Products for a Dewy, Natural On-Camera Look
Emmy Award–winning television personality Zuri Hall knows a thing or two about getting (and staying) camera-ready. As a co-host of Access Hollywood and American Ninja Warrior, Hall navigates hundreds of red carpets and press junkets each year—often under glaring lights and high-definition scrutiny. It’s a professional terrain that has helped her refine a beauty regimen built for endurance and impact. Her curated arsenal of products is less about trends and more about performance—items that withstand hours on set, unpredictable climates and the unflinching lens of the camera. But for Hall, beauty goes beyond the brush. A vocal advocate for mental health awareness, she believes self-care is not just a luxury, but an essential part of any beauty routine that she carves out for herself every day.
“One of my favorite foundations is the Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Foundation ($58). Highly recommend that one. It provides a really nice dewy and skin-like finish that’s not too matte. That’s something I always want to come across on camera. I never want it to feel too cake-faced.
I also love Milk Makeup, and one of my favorites right now is the Balmade Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm with Electrolytes ($18) because it has a super natural finish that is just sheer enough. It comes in a variety of colors and I’m a less is more person when it comes to lips on set—unless I’m doing a bold red lip. Balmade Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm with Electrolytes, plus a little bit of liner goes far for me.”
“The MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Face Powder ($44). It’s old faithful, tried and true. I’ve been using it for years on set when I need to mattify my T-zone that gets oily pretty quickly. It doesn’t read ashy and does exactly what it says it’ll do—provide an amazing natural skin finish.
Another product I love is Laura Mercier’s Translucent Loose Setting Powder ($43). I highly recommend them. A little hack that my makeup artist and I use is to buy them in a variety of colors. We will use a lighter shade under my eyes, then a medium brown shade that’s slightly darker than my complexion for a subtle contour. On those rare occasions, especially for those long red carpet days, when I want to lean into the contour, we will use an even darker shade, because more is more, so we do it all.”
“I’m really enjoying the Salt & Stone products, from their deodorants to body washes. The scents they have are soft, subtle and add a touch of luxury to my everyday routine, which for me is a nice little self-care moment.”
“We love the ONE/SIZE Setting Spray by Patrick Starrr ($34) that comes in an aerosol can. You definitely have to hold your breath while you spray the top to bottom on the face, but it lasts all day and all night, and it’s my makeup artist and I’s go-to. I love it.”
“Once I get home, I like to turn the lights down low and light candles throughout the house to get me into a very chill, zen space no matter where I’m at. I’ve romanticized my skin-care routine because until I did that, I hated skin care at the end of the night. It felt like a chore and not a treat. Now I light the candles. Grab a wine glass, and maybe I’ll pour a little glass of wine, or some really nice room-temperature water, or a sparkling water with lemon or lime. Whatever it is, I’ll have it in a nice wine glass. It just feels like a ritual.
And then I really love the hydrating and plumping Tatcha Starter Ritual set ($74). I love this brand in general because they make it super easy and simple to do. I don’t like to do too much, and they break it down into a four-step process. It’s luxurious and feels like an elevated treat for my skin after a long day of work. I’m tired, and it’s a nice little 15-minute ritual. Then, I curl up on my couch with my dog and unwind with one of my favorite shows (right now, my go-to is The Gilded Age) or read magazines like Essence or Town & Country and just vibe out.”
