Manchester United managed to stave off a strong comeback effort from Newport County, a team from League Two, in order to progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup, winning 4-2 on Sunday.

In the first half, the Red Devils secured a solid 2-0 lead that seemed hard to challenge, before Newport's Bryn Morris and Will Evans scored on either side of half-time, resulting in a surprising tie.

The season's first goal from Antony tilted the balance back in Manchester Utd's favor, with Rasmus Hojlund sealing the victory with a final goal in the 94th minute.

The next phase of the competition will see Manchester Utd against either Bristol City or Nottingham Forest.

In the early exchanges, Manchester United took control and quickly took the lead, thanks to captain Bruno Fernandes. The team executed a swift move that ended with Antony, currently struggling with form, passing it to Fernandes, who was perfectly positioned just outside the box to score.

It wasn't too long into the game before Manchester Utd doubled their lead. The goal was scored by 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo, marking his first goal for the club. Diogo Dalot made a cut-back pass from the wing to Mainoo who was right inside the box to secure the goal.

The lead could have increased as Alejandro Garnacho nearly scored the third goal for Manchester Utd but hit the crossbar instead.

Despite managing the game effortlessly for majority of the first half, Manchester Utd unexpectedly conceded a goal at the 36-minute mark.

Newport's Morris managed an exceptional goal that bounced off Lisandro Martinez's head to secure a spot just inside the top corner.

Encouraged by this stroke of luck, Newport began the second half with vigor and managed to score another goal in the 47th minute.

The successful equalizer was the result of a clever cross into the near post area by Adam Lewis, which former dairy farmer Will Evans made use of to secure the goal.

This move seemed to invigorate Manchester Utd, resulting in them scoring another goal at the 68-minute mark.

The unlikely goal came from Antony, Manchester Utd's right winger, who promptly responded to tap into an empty net after Luke Shaw's shot hit the post.

Manchester Utd eventually secured victory in the 94th minute with a final goal by Hojlund, after a mishap in Newport's defence left an opening for him.
