Saturday saw Bayer Leverkusen continuing their unbeaten streak in an impressive manner, defeating Bayern Munich with a 3-0 victory.

Leverkusen, conscious of the possibility of losing their prime spot with a defeat, managed to overrule their noteworthy guests. Josip Stanisic (loaned from Bayern) initiated the scoring in the early stages, followed by Alejandro Grimaldo who scored after halftime, and a last-moment strike from Jeremie Frimpong solidified the victory.

As a result, Leverkusen remains five points ahead at the top of the table, with title prospects majorly in their favor.

The game started on a watchful note, given the potential consequences of defeat. A slip by Dayot Upamecano allowed Amine Adli a minor chance to score within ten minutes, however, his lenient effort was easily picked up by Manuel Neuer.

A strike from Leon Goretzka from outside the box missed the mark, but Leverkusen took the lead through a goal from Bayern's Stanisic. A sharp cross found the right-back alone in close range, leaving him with an easily attainable goal.

Maintaining momentum, a strike from Nathan Tella shook the guests, quickly followed by Jonathan Tah's header which was deflected by Neuer.

Bayern, who shifted formation to match their opponents, seemed unsettled in their quest for an equalizer and fell short of causing significant problems for Leverkusen's defense. Upamecano's timely intervention after Adli approached the goal saved the day for Bayern at the end of the half.

The second half started with Leverkusen doubling their lead courtesy of Grimaldo. He scored after a short exchange with Tella, increasing their lead. Attempting to surprise Neuer, Grimaldo narrowly missed a goal from a corner kick.

Efforts to bridge the gap in score by Bayern were thwarted by Leverkusen's formidable defense and immense pressurizing energy, leaving Bayern goalless.

As the match drew to a close, Frimpong narrowly missed the post before making a run to score in an empty net, giving a historic win for his team under Xabi Alonso's leadership.

Individual performance ratings for the players have been provided, excluding bench players unused in the match.

The strong performance of Xabi Alonso as a manager, who stuck to his game plan and emerged victorious against Germany's leading club, is also acknowledged.
