On Wednesday night, Manchester United participated in a gripping Champions League match, losing 4-3 to Copenhagen in Denmark. This loss has left them with a significant amount of work to prevent an early departure from the leading European tournament.

United started out in a strong position, going up 2-0 in the first half thanks to Rasmus Hojlund's two goals against his previous team. A win would have had them ending the night at second place in the group behind Bayern Munich, securing their fate in their hands.

However, the match took a turn with Marcus Rashford's red card in the first half. Copenhagen quickly took advantage and scored two goals, reaching parity with United. Bruno Fernandes managed to put United back in the lead with a penalty shot, but this did not stem the tide. Subsequent goals from Lukas Lerager and Roony Bardghji gave Copenhagen the lead, putting them in a commanding position for the second place.

This match had it all! A stunning shot by 17-year-old Roony Bardghji put Copenhagen in the lead.

This marks the first time Manchester United lost a UEFA Champions League match where they led by more than 2 goals. It also represented their first loss after having a two-goal lead since September 2014 when they played against Leicester City.

What started as a promising evening turned into a disappointment for Manchester United.

This result is an unfortunate statistic for Manchester United.

According to commentators Owen Hargreaves and Paul Scholes, Rashford's red card against Copenhagen was uncalled for.

Hargreaves and Scholes voiced their opinions claiming no common sense was displayed.

Others defended Rashford, criticizing the use of slow-motion replays that tend to worsen the situation.

Ten Hag stated that 'Rashford's red card changed the game dynamics, and we conceded two goals before half-time that didn't deserve to be scored. The red card was undoubtedly severe.'

When Varane was substituted in, it appeared as if the team was rallying around him. The reason for his absence from the starting lineup is unclear, be it due to injury or something else. However, his performance during the game didn't do him any favours.

Questions are being raised about why they cannot defend crosses....

Regardless of the night, one bright spark was Rasmus Hojlund, who once again played splendidly.

Despite Hojlund's excellent performance, others fear that the team's struggling form might eventually affect him as well.
