Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Meredith Marks and her husband, Seth Marks, have been a mainstay on the show since the first season. The couple has experienced a few rough patches during their time on the reality series, and Seth’s job has been a point of contention in the past. Seth works as the Senior Vice President of Extreme Value Sourcing at Big Lots. According to the company’s website, he’s “responsible for leading our strategic sourcing efforts and working closely with the Merchandising Team to procure products that offer unbeatable value to our customers.” In November 2020, Meredith revealed that she and Seth had separated. What was more shocking was the fact that this wasn’t the first time the couple had done so. “The separations we’ve had have been on and off for years and we’ve even dated other people from time to time,” Meredith said during an episode of the “Getting Real With the Housewives” podcast at the time. “It was not something I really wanted to talk about, but I had to and was forced to talk a lot more than I even wanted to by some of the women and that to me is not being a good friend.” The mom of three has been open in the past about how much the family has moved from state to state, which caused a strain on their marriage. “Seth is in the closeout and deep discount retail industry, and needs to go hunt for the deals,” Meredith told the cameras during a December 2020 episode of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. “Because of that, we moved to Toronto and back to Chicago and then when we were in Chicago, Seth was commuting every day to Dallas, and then we moved to Park City, and I was running my business on top of it. There definitely was some hostility that that caused in my marriage, for sure.” Seth and Meredith seemed stronger than ever when RHOSLC season 5 premiered in October 2024. Unfortunately, by the time episode 7 rolled around, the couple was back in familiar territory when it came to Meredith’s feelings about Seth’s job. During a couples’ trip with some of their fellow costars, Seth let Meredith know he had some “bad news” and had to leave the trip early due to a work obligation. She was irritated with him and pointed out it was a “couples’ trip” and she wanted the “other half to her couple.” “Seth and I have lived in a lot of different places, [which] probably has something to do with why I don’t like to be anywhere for more than a couple weeks at a time. I don’t know, probably 18 years ago, me and the kids were still in Chicago, and he was supposed to be commuting to Toronto Tuesday to Thursday, and then it slowly became Monday to Friday,” Meredith told her costar Heather Gay during a clip from the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City After Show on November 7, 2024. “And then it became, ‘Well, we should probably relocate the family there,’ because it was just too hard on him going back and forth. And we did. And that’s not the first time we’ve done that. It snowballs into this beast where it’s like, hard for us to even connect.” However, Meredith added that she and Seth have now “gotten things under control” regarding their relationship and they’re both “making a really big effort to try to get to the other one.”
