X shows frustration as Raya's mistakes almost lead to Arsenal's defeat against Luton
Was it necessary for Arsenal's match to be as difficult as it turned out to be?
Arsenal was expected to win against Luton Town in their Tuesday match, but their goalkeeper David Raya seemingly had different plans. He was close to letting the underdogs claim a point before Declan Rice came through to shatter the hopes of the Hatters.
The match was notable for various reasons, one of which being the significant achievement of Bukayo Saka. The young winger reached his 200th appearance for Arsenal.
Saka played a key role in Arsenal's first goal by capitalising on a defensive error by Luton. He passed the ball to Gabriel Martinelli who converted it into a goal in an unorthodox manner.
This was only Martinelli's second goal in this Premier League season, but it seems he's starting to get his goal scoring rhythm back, especially after his performance in their 6-0 victory against Lens.
However, Arsenal's advantage was short-lived. Gabriel Osho managed to score a goal from a corner just four minutes after Arsenal's goal, levelling the scores.
The goals continued from there, with Gabriel Jesus being the next one to celebrate, scoring just before half-time.
Arsenal's striker netted the ball from a close range following a fantastic cross from Ben White, who made it easy for Jesus to score.
But things soon took a downhill turn for Arsenal.
Soon after the second half started, Raya failed to intercept a corner leading to Elijah Adebayo scoring in an empty net.
Raya was once again under scrutiny when he fumbled an effort from Ross Barkley, giving Luton an unexpected lead.
Arsenal managed to even the scores when Kai Havertz scored a goal, setting the stage for a tense last 30 minutes.
When it seemed like Raya's mistakes would cost Arsenal the game, Declan Rice emerged as their saviour by scoring a goal in the 96th minute.
