In her early career as a young actress in movies such as The Parent Trap and Freaky Friday, Lindsay Lohan was encouraged to agree to anything asked of her. However, this is not really reflective of how life works, Lohan conveyed to Bustle in a recent discussion.

Today, after marrying financial mogul Bader Shammas and having their first child together, Luai, Lohan is more selective in her roles as she returns to acting. This discerning approach affects her choice of roles and her thoughts on the future. She emphasized the importance of self-authenticity and passion for one's work. Otherwise, it's not difficult to lose oneself in numerous other pursuits, resulting in a less engaging personal and professional life.

Following her appearances in two Netflix romantic comedies, Falling for Christmas from 2022 and Irish Wish, released on March 15, and a guest appearance in the adaption of Mean Girls into a musical, Lohan elaborated on her future professional plans. She revealed that Karl Lagerfeld once suggested she play the role of silent movie star Clara Bow, but another actress has caught Lohan's attention. She's very interested in portraying Ann-Margret Olsson and is in the process of sourcing a screenwriter for the project. Lohan considers Olsson as an exceptional talent in the industry and aims to do justice to her story.

Lohan already seems to have Olsson's endorsement, with a comment made by Olsson in the 2005 People Most Beautiful Issue: "Oh, yes. I see a lot of me in her." Furthermore, Olsson mentioned a specific fiery attribute common among redheads making them very charismatic. The two were supposed to share screen time in a Jack Black comedy scheduled during the mid-2000s that did not ultimately happen.

Lohan also expressed her desire to work with Adam Sandler in a movie, a dream that could potentially turn to reality since both actors have Netflix contracts. She also intends to be part of the Five-Timers Club of Saturday Night Live, with just one slot short after her hosting duties back in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2012. She humorously mentioned being almost there to get that robe, a statement made just a week after Josh Brolin came back as a host after his initial 2012 stint.

Her upcoming Netflix project is a Christmas comedy ensemble film starring alongside Kristin Chenoweth. The plot revolves around two resentful ex-lovers forced to live under one roof after finding out their current lovers are related. In addition to this project, she hinted at an impending sequel to the 2003 movie Freaky Friday, as suggested by her and Jamie Lee Curtis. Though she didn't reveal much, she confirmed, "we are going to be doing it, I hope it's sooner than later."
