On Wednesday, January 17, Buckingham Palace declared that King Charles III will be undergoing a corrective operation for his prostate. This unexpected announcement came in the wake of news that Princess Kate Middleton was admitted to a hospital for a prearranged abdominal surgery, taking royal observers by surprise.

The palace statement explained, “Similar to countless men each year, the king is receiving care for his enlarged prostate. The ailment of His Majesty is non-cancerous, and he will report to the hospital next week for an adjustment procedure. His official obligations will be briefly deferred for a minor recovery period.”

News about Charles was startled enough, yet it aligned with updates that Kate, 42, had gone through her anticipated surgery, with a forecasted hospital stay of “10 to 14 days.” The operation was “successful” as confirmed by Kensington Palace, and it mentioned that the Princess of Wales will “resume her recovery” at home, and avoid “reappearing in her official role until after Easter.” Since the beginning of January, leading up to her operation, Kate has maintained a low public profile, with her last public appearance during the holiday season.

The statement put up on Instagram read, “The Princess of Wales appreciates public interest the statement will create. She hopes public comprehension of her effort to keep as much normalcy for her children; and aims for her personal healthcare information to stay confidential.” It continued, “Therefore, Kensington Palace will only supply progress updates on Her Royal Highness when there is pertinent fresh news to disclose. The Princess of Wales wants to express her regret to everyone concerned due to her upcoming commitments being deferred. She anticipates reestablishing as many commitments as achievable and as soon as possible.”

Kate seems eager about handling her obligations in 2024. The Princess, although had a thoroughly scheduled surgery, aims to maintain the year stress-free, according to a close source's information to Life & Style.

“Her birthday is constantly a moment of introspection and instigating her individual new year,” the wearer told Life & Style while commenting on Kate’s birthday on January 9. “Her determination is to have a drama-free year.”

Regarding Charles’s health status, he seemed lively when he was noticed on January 7 at a church service in the Sandringham estate. He was seen interacting with locals. However, he postponed his planned Scottish trip due to the approaching operation.
