King Charles III has, as per Buckingham Palace, been diagnosed with cancer. The discovery happened during his treatment for benign prostate enlargement at the London Clinic in the previous month. The details about the cancer diagnosis weren't disclosed by the palace, but it is confirmed by Vanity Fair that he is not suffering from prostate cancer.

In the statement, it was mentioned, “A separate concern was noted during His Majesty's recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement apart from the primary issue. It has been identified as a form of cancer through further diagnostic tests,”. The doctors have advised the King to hold off his public appearances as he begins a regular treatment schedule, but he will proceed with State business and official paperwork as usual.

Since announcing his prostate condition last month, the king has taken a break from his royal duties. Prior to the announcement of cancer by the palace, he was projected to resume his duties in a month, and he was spotted attending church with Queen Camilla on Sunday. On Monday, he moved from the Sandringham Estate to London's home to start outpatient treatment.

An official statement from the palace expressed gratitude to the medical team for their prompt attention to King's condition and explained the reason for disclosing this information publicly. His Majesty shared his diagnosis in order to avoid speculation and assist global understanding about the disease for those affected by cancer.

According to close sources, the diagnosis came as a “shock” as Charles was recuperating at Sandringham. A source told Vanity Fair, “The news of cancer diagnosis was a significant shock for the king and the entire family, but the best possible health care is being provided to the king and they hope to have detected the cancer on time.”

Charles will be given outpatient treatment and he is likely to stay at Clarence House, his London residence, during the treatment.

Simultaneously, sources reveal that Prince Harry is on his way to the UK to visit his father, Charles. They have been in conversation since the King's 75th birthday in November.

The announcement follows an unusually open month in which the royal family shared health details. Kate Middleton had a scheduled abdominal surgery at London Clinic on January 16. On January 22, Sarah Ferguson disclosed having skin cancer, after having been diagnosed with breast cancer last summer. The day after the news about the King's benign prostate enlargement treatment, NHS reported a 1000% overnight rise in their relevant information site's visitors.
