Katy Perry, at 39 years old, candidly discloses that she's far from her teenage dream years.
The pop star admitted during the last performance of her Play concert residency in Las Vegas, that her lifestyle has significantly changed since becoming a mom. “In my twenties, I was wild, but now, I have a toddler that doesn't keep in mind whether I am hungover or not, waking me up at 6:30,” said Perry.
Perry admitted to a sense of guilt about being hungover around her young kids. Her child's pleas of "Wake up, Mom, let's watch Minions." triggered this self-reflection.
She further expressed, "Now that I am 39, if I consume more than two beverages, the next day is rough. The following day usually triggers a full self-evaluation of my life."
Her life in Las Vegas is radically different now, as she has recognized the value of a good night's sleep. Since December 2021, she has been giving weekend performances and celebrated her final show with three-year-old daughter Daisy, who was carried by Perry's fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom. This marked the first public appearance of Daisy. At the concert, Perry expressed admiration for artists managing their careers and parental responsibilities.
Perry noted that the experience of performing while being a mother was a novel one for her. She praised other mothers managing their familial and professional responsibilities in tandem. “The women who manage households, get their children ready for preschool, prepare meals, and maintain social life, you all are real rock stars. I am delighted to be a part of you,” she added.
During the concert, Perry addressed her daughter Daisy, who was adorably clad in a red and white polka-dotted Minnie Mouse dress and pink fuzzy noise-cancelling headphones.
Directing her attention to Daisy, the star said wearing a toilet paper-inspired costume, “Daisy! I love you immeasurably. You're my best buddy, and I'm thrilled that you're here.”
Several renowned celebrities, including Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and Celine Dion attended Perry's final show. However, they didn't receive any personal mentions.
Perry was visibly emotional as she shared how her daughter inspired her show's theme – a toy that magically comes to life. The mother-daughter relationship, she revealed, has brought her the love she has always craved for, made her feel complete, healed emotional wounds, and re-taught her the joy of playing.
She dedicated the concert to everyone's inner child, symbolizing hope and freedom, mirroring a child's unbiased perspective of life.
