Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, has praised Luis Diaz after the player scored a crucial late goal during Liverpool's match against Luton Town on Sunday.

The footballer has been coping with a personal crisis, as his parents were recently kidnapped by gunmen in Colombia. His mother has since been rescued, but his father's whereabouts remain unknown, with a search ongoing in the country's northwestern forests.

Despite this personal turmoil, Diaz insisted on joining the Liverpool match squad on Sunday's match. He entered the field in the 83rd minute and scored a decisive goal, heading in the equaliser in the 95th minute from the back post.

Discussing Diaz's personal circumstances and on-field performance, Klopp said in a press conference that while it was a poignant and tremendous moment, Diaz's real issues have not been resolved. He mentioned that the team, and Diaz himself, wanted to provide a slight distraction for the player from his other troubles.

'He has been training with us a few times and was in good spirits, which has been beneficial for him. There is some optimism from Colombia, but the news we are all waiting for has not come yet. We didn't know when we could actually play him.'

'It turned out to be a game where another attacker would make sense. Introducing him with his quality for 15-20 minutes and he scores a goal - it's fantastic.'

Following the match, Diaz and Klopp shared an emotional hug. When asked about the moment, the coach commented that no words were necessary. They both knew the situation - Diaz was waiting for the good news.

'We had similar experiences in the past. I totally understand that it's a heartwarming story, and it's incredibly positive for him. But the fact is, the main issue hasn't been addressed. That's it. Nevertheless, it's a very positive development for him. However, other problems remain the same.'
