Jonathan Majors, a well-known actor, had just wrapped up his first week of a domestic assault lawsuit held in a Manhattan courtroom when text exchanges between Majors and his complainant, his former partner Grace Jabbari, were revealed. Previous to this, they were referred to in a pretrial document from the prosecution. Majors vehemently pleads innocence to accusations of misdemeanor assault and harassment that allegedly stem from a domestic altercation in March.

Prior to the March incident, an episode occurred between the couple six months earlier resulting in Jabbari being rushed to a hospital for treatment of slight injuries to the head and neck. That event, and the text messages that followed, are admissible in court as Molineux evidence and adds to claims about Majors's behavior being connected with the accusations made against him. Prosecutors, in a pretrial document, also made reference to medical reports linked to an incident which happened in London in September 2022.

The texts shared in front of the jury on Friday seemed to portray Majors warning Jabbari about the implications of visiting a hospital. He stated his concern of a potential investigation that could be triggered even if she lied to the authorities.

Jabbari, on her second day of court appearance, accused Majors of having a violent temper. She broke down in tears while reading a text message in which she said she was going to tell her doctor that her injuries were caused by her bumping her head. Assistant District Attorney Kelli Galaway followed this up by recounting Jabbari's testimony: she was going to tell her doctor she bumped her head so they would give her stronger painkillers as she was having trouble sleeping and that she would deny the real cause of her injuries because she wanted to remain with Majors.

Jabbari had to face a cross examination by Majors's defense lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, who created the possibility of this exchange being presented in court. Chaudhry questioned at one point why Jabbari told emergency personnel that she wasn't sure how she received her injuries after the incident in March 2023. In defense of this, Judge Michael Gaffey stated that her attorney had done so to challenge Jabbari's credibility.

In a text interaction in September 2022, Majors seemingly threatened to take his own life if Jabbari revealed the cause of her injury to the hospital. Referring to the previous night's argument, he stated that he was contemplating suicide, feeling inadequately loved and considering himself a undeserving, monstrous and a regrettable man with a miserable existence. Responding to this, Jabbari comforted him, promosing to keep him out of her trip to the doctor, though she understand his concerns.

Majors then reportedly reproached Jabbari for not comforting him after their dispute, again hinting at his intention to end his life. He even described himself as a terrible person incapable of giving love and said he would soon take his life. Upon hearing this, Jabbari warned that she would tell someone else.

Subsequently, Galaway asked Jabbari face-to-face in court why she hadn't disclosed to emergency staff how she was injured. Replying to this, Jabbari said she was terrified of the potential consequences and tried to protect Majors.

Majors's defense attorney, Chaudhry stands by her client's innocence, asserting that Jabbari, seeking revenge, falsely accused Majors to jeopardize his career. If Majors gets convicted on his misdemeanor charges, he could face up to a year in prison, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
