FIFPRO reveals shortlist for Men's World 11 in 2023
The 23-player shortlist for the 2023 Men's World 11 has been revealed by FIFPRO, featuring top players Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Both seasoned players waved farewell to European football during the 2023 voting period. Messi made a move to MLS with Inter Miami while Ronaldo signed with the Saudi Pro League's team, Al Nassr. Other notable names on the shortlist include Erling Haaland, following his historic year with Manchester City, treble-winners, as well as Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Virgil van Dijk.
The final selections for the XI will be announced at The Best FIFA Football Awards in London, scheduled for January 15.
For this year's XI, over 28,000 players have participated in the voting process. FIFPRO takes pride in its awards as the only ones determined exclusively by professional footballers.
The team consists of one goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, and three forwards. The final spot is reserved for the outfield player who receives the most votes.
