Critics Blast Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS Valentine’s Collection Micro-Thong: ‘Who can actually wear such a thing?’

Kim Kardashian has once again unveiled a new item from her SKIMS range; however, not all the feedback from customers has been positive. A new addition to her Valentine's collection is a glitzy micro-thong, a product that has left some shoppers questioning its practicality.

The official SKIMS Instagram account revealed a model donning the "Jelly sheer tie side charm thong" which featured a barely-there white strip and two crystal encrusted hearts.

One fan queried, “What is this even supposed to cover?" while another responded, “I would end up exposing myself.” Phrases like, “Can SKIMS be more inclusive?” and “Where's the product for actual women?” were also included in the comments.

A number of followers were more straightforward, with one stating, “This design is so wrong, Kim” and another commenting, “This product isn't reflecting reality” when it comes to women’s bodies. One follower advised Kim to “Stop making hairlessness seem normal,” focusing on how little the thong actually covered.

Kim's sister Khloé Kardashian has previously criticized the size inclusivity of SKIMS’ products, which fans were quick to remind her about. They remarked things like “Kim, even Khloé can't wear this…..” Other users even suggested that “Khloé is probably annoyed by this right now.”

In June 2022, Kim announced via Instagram Stories that she was addressing size inclusivity by increasing the crotch area of some products. This came after her sister openly talked about having a “puffy privates,” even nicknaming it “Camille” when called out for camel toe in photos.

On the video she posted, she stated "Khloé, you'd be so proud. I'm currently in a full SKIMS shapewear meeting and we're focusing on increasing the size of the lower section in the bodysuit.” She also tagged Khloé in a post and quipped, “It's your lucky day” while showcasing the new fabric.

Kim continued by stating, “We're making some changes based on all your feedback and queries, which we're grateful for.”

The product description for the $28 Jelly sheer thong reads, “This thong is a must-have. Crafted from our popular, silky-sheer fabric, this scantily-clad t-string features double heart charms with crystals for the ultimate wow factor. Comes with adjustable, stretchy side ties and a cotton gusset. True to size.” The product is available in sizes from XXS to 4X.

When it was first launched in 2021 as the “Fits Everybody Micro-Thong,” Kim described it as “essentially only covering the intimate bits”.
