According to 90min, Kylian Mbappe will need to force a reasonable transfer fee if he wants to complete his move to Real Madrid this summer, meaning he may have to find a way out of Paris Saint-Germain. The 24-year-old has already informed PSG that he will not be extending his current deal beyond 2024, nor will he be signing a new contract. This has reportedly stunned the French champions, with reports even stating that they were confused by Mbappe's decision to write them a letter explaining his intentions. PSG now face the dilemma of either losing him for free next year or selling him this summer.

The departure of Lionel Messi to Inter Miami on a free transfer and the uncertain future of Neymar at Parc des Princes, with interest from Saudi Arabia, have compounded PSG's troubles. Additionally, Real Madrid is not keen on engaging in a transfer war that could result in paying a nine-figure fee for the player. They are exploring options such as Harry Kane, Lautaro Martinez, and Dusan Vlahovic for a new centre-forward since the departure of Karim Benzema to Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad.

While Real Madrid and Mbappe share a mutual interest in making a transfer work, Los Blancos require his active participation to facilitate a move from PSG. They would be comfortable prioritizing a move for a natural number nine and fitting Mbappe into their system, but they need to further assess the situation. Real Madrid's president, Florentino Perez, had earlier expressed his willingness to sign Mbappe, but not this summer, in an earlier interview.

On the latest episode of Talking Transfers, part of the 90min podcast network, experts discussed Ange Postecoglou's appointment at Spurs, Man Utd chasing Rasmus Hojlund, Harry Kane to Real Madrid, Lionel Messi's transfer issue, and much more.
