In a recent 3-1 triumph over Burnley, Trent Alexander-Arnold took the record of generating most assists from a defender in Premier League history. This feat was achieved while playing for Liverpool.

Jota, a teammate, utilized Alexander-Arnold's ball to score the first goal in the match. This scoreline went down in history books as it marked the 58th goal that Alexander-Arnold has created in his Premier League career so far.

The record previously belonged to Alexander-Arnold's fellow teammate, Andy Robertson. Robertson, with 57 assists, is now second to Alexander-Arnold and aims to recapture his position in the future.

The former record holder, Robertson, initially surpassed Leighton Baines' record of 53 assists in December 2022. However, due to a prolonged period of rehab due to a shoulder injury, Alexander-Arnold has been able to claim the record spot.

So far, this season, Alexander-Arnold has provided four assists, making it a total of ten assists in all the competitions. On the other hand, Robertson is yet to open his tally for this season and has only made 11 appearances in the league games.

By outpacing Robertson, Alexander-Arnold now holds the third-highest assists in Liverpool's Premier League history. Steven Gerrard and Mohamed Salah occupy the first and second positions respectively with 92 and 66 assists.

Alexander-Arnold also boasts the record for maximum assists by a defender in a single Premier League season. He first claimed this honour in 2019 and then topped his own record by setting up a 13th goal in July 2020.

Although Alexander-Arnold experienced a dip in his form last season, he returned back brilliantly, providing seven assists in the last ten games, ending the year with a commendable total of nine assists.
