Arne Slot, Feyenoord head coach, in initial discussions with Tottenham
It has been reported that Tottenham Hotspur are actively searching for a new head coach, with initial discussions having taken place with Feyenoord's Arne Slot. The club is on the lookout for a permanent replacement for Antonio Conte, who left his position in March. Ryan Mason has since been appointed as the interim coach, but a poor run of results led to him being sacked as well. Tottenham's ongoing European qualification hopes remain in their hands as the season comes to a close.
The club has held discussions with several potential candidates for the head coach position. Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann are among those that Tottenham has approached but negotiations with the former have not progressed. After walking away from talks with Nagelsmann, Tottenham is now making progress in discussions with Dutchman Slot.
Despite being one of the leading contenders for the job, Tottenham has emphasized that there is no top candidate for the role. The club is also said to be considering other options such as Ruben Amorim, Marco Silva, Michael Carrick, Brendan Rodgers, and Graham Potter. Burnley's Vincent Kompany and Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso were also targets, but both have shown their commitment to their current clubs.
Slot led Feyenoord to the Europa Conference League final last season, losing to Jose Mourinho's Roma squad. Tottenham has made contact with him after Feyenoord's involvement in the Eredivisie title race complicated matters over the last few weeks. Tottenham's search for a new head coach is concurrent with their search for a new director of football, with Brentford's Phil Giles and Lee Dykes being considered for the role.
