Real Madrid finalizes acquisition of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund | Transfer Market | The Guardian
Real Madrid has officially announced that they have acquired Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund. The England midfielder has agreed to a six-year contract with the Bernabéu-based team.
In 2020, the 19-year-old moved from his boyhood club Birmingham to Germany, but he had always dreamed of playing for the Spanish giants. Last week, Dortmund announced that Madrid had agreed to pay an initial €103m (£88.5m) in order to secure Bellingham's services. Real has now confirmed that the deal is complete.
"Real Madrid CF and Borussia Dortmund have agreed on the transfer of the player Jude Bellingham, who will remain linked to our club for the next six seasons," Real Madrid stated. "Tomorrow, Thursday, 15 June, at 12pm at Real Madrid City, Jude Bellingham will be presented as a new Real Madrid player. After the presentation, Bellingham will answer questions from the media."
Bellingham recently scored his first England goal in their World Cup win over Iran and was named the Bundesliga's player of the season after his impressive performances for Dortmund. However, he is currently out of the squad due to injury and will miss their Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.
The midfielder had always longed to play for the 14-time European champions and has previously stated that he believes the Champions League is "the biggest stage." "The goal has always been winning," he stated last month. "When you ask me what my biggest ambitions are in the game, it's to win everything. And I'm not afraid to say that. I feel like everyone should have that goal as professional footballers."
