Teresa Giudice, 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' Star, Faces $17K Lien and Owes Over $1M to Federal Government.
According to recent documents viewed by Life & Style, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice now owes a total of $1,096,012.14 to the federal government, after being hit with a new lien of $17,000 for the 2020 and 2021 tax years from the Morris County New Jersey jurisdiction on April 19, 2023.
This new lien adds to the long list of filings that the 51-year-old Bravo star racked up after previously filing for bankruptcy in 2009. Following this, Teresa and her ex-husband, Joe Giudice, were handed 39 indictments for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, bankruptcy fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud, and making false statements on loan applications. They later pleaded guilty to 41 counts of fraud, for which both were sentenced to prison. Teresa served 11 months and Joe served 41 months before being released in December 2015 and March 2019, respectively.
However, Joe's release didn't bring the end of his troubles, as he was transferred to ICE custody due to not being a US citizen. After spending seven months there, he was allowed to return to Italy in October 2019 while he waited for a verdict on his deportation appeal. Unfortunately for him, this was ultimately denied in April 2020, following a previous denial in November 2018.
Teresa's imprisonment and previous legal issues were highlighted in the first part of the RHONJ season 13 reunion on May 30. During the reunion, she blamed her sister-in-law Melissa Gorga for using her and her ex-husband's former business partner as a storyline, after Melissa accused her of doing the same. However, Teresa had previously blamed fellow alum Caroline Manzo for calling the FBI when she was indicted for fraud.
