On Boxing Day, football takes center stage in homes across the United Kingdom, as the remnants of wrapping paper are tidied away, mulled wine is consumed and leftover Christmas dinners are enjoyed.

The Premier League presents a visual banquet with five games scheduled for Tuesday that have implications for teams at both the top and bottom of the league. Newcastle, who are in urgent need of a win, will play host to Nottingham Forest in the day’s first game. Later that evening, Liverpool and Manchester United will also be in action.

Here's a guide on how you can stay up-to-date with the slate of Boxing Day Premier League games.

When they take on Nottingham Forest at St. James' Park for the early kickoff, Newcastle can little afford another disappointing outcome.

In all recent matches, the Magpies have come out on the losing end five out of six times, which has resulted in their exit from both the Champions League and the Carabao Cup. On Saturday, they suffered a defeat to Luton Town, placing them seven points behind the top four.

Following a controversial red card for Willy Boly in their 3-2 loss to Bournemouth, Forest felt hard done by, and now find themselves just two points above the relegation zone.

Despite a rocky start that put Andoni Iraola's future as Bournemouth's manager in jeopardy, the Cherries are now in top form in the Premier League, having won five of their last six games. Bournemouth owe their most recent victory to a hat-trick by Dominic Solanke, which helped them secure a ten-point lead over the relegation zone, just in time for their match against Fulham at the Vitality Stadium.

Having lost back-to-back games to Newcastle and Burnley, Fulham have received a reality check after winning their prior two league matches 5-0.

A match at Bramall Lane sees Sheffield United host Luton Town, two teams that were dismissed as likely candidates for relegation at the beginning of the season.

While Sheffield, under the management of returning boss Chris Wilder, have managed to take four points from their last three games, they still find themselves five points behind 17th placed Forest. Luton, three points ahead of their fellow strugglers, confirmed their determination to stay in contention with a victory over Newcastle.

Liverpool held Arsenal to a thrilling 1-1 draw with the winner avoiding the two title contenders, the outcome thereby allowing the Gunners to secure the top spot at Christmas. Liverpool has the potential to overtake Mikel Arteta's team with a positive result against Burnley, who recently celebrated their third league win of this season with a victory away at Fulham. However, the Clarets remain in 19th place and have only won one of their last six encounters with Liverpool.

Manchester United, who recently conceded a defeat to West Ham despite several early opportunities, have been facing an unwelcome string of setbacks. Their upcoming confrontation with an upbeat Aston Villa seems ill-timed for Manchester United, especially as Villa are currently focused on securing a top-four placement. Despite exhibiting solid performances in road games against Chelsea, Tottenham and Brentford, Unai Emery's team have often struggled more when away than when playing at Villa Park over the past year.
