Pep Guardiola has made history by becoming the first manager to win the treble with two different teams. His Manchester City side cemented their trophy haul for the 2022/23 season with a 1-0 win over Inter in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday, with Rodri scoring the crucial goal.

The Citizens fought hard to overthrow Arsenal and reclaim the top spot in the Premier League this year. The Gunners had held the title for 248 days, the longest period for a team that did not finish first. Man City also emerged victorious in the FA Cup final, defeating rivals Manchester United with a brace from Ilkay Gundogan and a goal from Bruno Fernandes.

Guardiola's achievements have earned him a place in the annals of football history, as he is the only manager to have won the treble with two different teams on two separate occasions. The first-ever treble was won by Jock Stein when his Celtic side emerged triumphant in all competitions in 1966/67.

Stefan Kovacs and Guus Hiddink with Ajax and PSV respectively followed Stein and Celtic's lead. In 1998/99, Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United made history by clinching the treble. Guardiola won his first treble in 2008/09 with Barcelona, where he famously beat Ferguson's Red Devils in the Champions League final.

The next season, Jose Mourinho guided his Inter charges to the treble, with a victory over Barça in the Champions League. Bayern Munich followed this up in 2012/13 by winning the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League under Jupp Heynckes. In 2014/15, Luis Enrique led Barcelona to their second treble, fueled by the formidable front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

Most recently, Hansi Flick took over Bayern Munich in 2019/20 midway through the season, leading the team to glory in the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League. Guardiola's latest win with Man City marks his second treble after his success with Barcelona, and his place in football history is secured.
