Chelsea transfer is irresistible for Moises Caicedo
Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo has revealed that he would not be willing to refuse a move to Chelsea this summer.
Caicedo is currently Chelsea's top priority to strengthen their midfield following the departures of Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, N'Golo Kante, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The club has been in negotiations with Brighton for a summer transfer.
The main obstacle has been Brighton's asking price of £100m, which was derived from Declan Rice's imminent move to Arsenal. Rice, a West Ham midfielder, has commanded a fee of £105m, and Brighton believes Caicedo should have a similar valuation.
The negotiations between the two clubs have been challenging, but Chelsea seems to have no difficulty in convincing Caicedo. He admits that he would be unable to reject an offer from Chelsea this summer.
'It's a big team, that's true,' Caicedo stated when asked about Chelsea's interest. 'A very historic team and I can't say no, because it's a very big, historic, beautiful team.
'The city as well is beautiful. It's got everything beautiful.'
Brighton has expressed an interest in including centre-back Levi Colwill as part of any deal for Caicedo, although Chelsea has firmly rejected this idea.
Colwill had an impressive loan spell at Brighton last season, attracting interest from several clubs including Liverpool and Manchester City. However, Chelsea's position has remained unchanged.
Colwill is expected to return for pre-season with Chelsea soon and will discuss his future with manager Mauricio Pochettino. He has openly expressed his desire for regular playing time next season.
'I've got to play at the end of the day,' Colwill told reporters after his successful campaign with England Under-21s.
While Chelsea is considering other midfield options, their main focus at the moment is on Caicedo. However, the club has not yet ruled out the possibility of signing another midfielder.
