Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager, has stated that no decision has been made regarding the potential return of injured players Bukayo Saka and William Saliba in their upcoming match against Chelsea on Saturday.

Saka, a key winger, sat out the 1-0 victory over Manchester City before the international break due to an injury, ruling him out of England duty at the same time. Saliba, meanwhile, worsened a toe issue during the clash with the Premier League champions, leading to his withdrawal from the France squad.

The duo's fitness has been a source of concern for Arsenal fans in the two weeks leading up to the Chelsea game. Chelsea, currently 11th in the Premier League, have lately displayed streaks of exceptional performance.

When questioned about team updates in a Friday press conference, Arteta said, 'Not much to share. We haven't been at full strength. Our first training session will be held today and we'll have a clearer picture after that.'

Regarding Saka's recovery, the manager pointed out that the winger has been pushing his limits to be available for the upcoming match, adding 'We'll see where he is after today.'

Arteta also mentioned that Saliba's toe injury, which has been a concern for several weeks, casts doubt on his ability to play against Chelsea.

He expressed hope that it won't turn into a long-term concern, but emphasized 'he's been coping with it for weeks now and we need to let it heal,' added Arteta. On Saliba's likelihood of kicking off against Chelsea, the manager again said it depends on how his training goes on the day.

As of now, Arsenal are second in the Premier League table, neck and neck with leaders Tottenham Hotspur, only falling behind on goals scored.

Given Tottenham are not scheduled to play Fulham until Monday night, a good outcome against Chelsea for Arteta's team could propel them back to the top Premier League position.
