Updates on Reece James, Robert Sanchez, and Marc Cucurella injuries revealed by Mauricio Pochettino
After the loss of Chelsea to Everton, Mauricio Pochettino shared the latest news on injuries involving Reece James, Robert Sanchez, and Marc Cucurella.
During the 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park, all three players had to leave the game, with James, the team's captain, limping off during the first half while Sanchez and Cucurella were subbed out in the last ten minutes of the match.
These injuries come on top of an already lengthy list of unavailable players for the Blues. Other first-team players who are currently not fit include Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, and Ben Chilwell.
Pochettino discussed the injuries to James, Sanchez, and Curucrella at his post-match press conference.
"Reece must have pulled his hamstring. He's clearly injured, but we're not quite sure how severe it is," said Pochettino.
"He's a vital player for us, truly one of the world's best full-backs. It's really disheartening because we were doing well 15 to 20 minutes into the game when we had to make changes due to Malo Gusto's recovery from his injury.
We had been solid defensively and had to adjust. The team continued to push and perform well even after Reece's departure.
"We're disappointed that a player of his significance can't contribute to the team right now. We'll have to evaluate the situation with his hamstring in the coming days," he added.
"Robert Sanchez experienced a knee problem after the match against Manchester United. He felt something during the second half, which is why he requested to be subbed. We're hoping it's nothing serious."
"Marc Cucurella, much like Sanchez, twisted his ankle. We hope the injuries they've suffered are not severe.
"We've been dealing with these situations since the beginning of the season and it's more than a young team trying to establish something solid can handle," Pochettino concluded.
