Jadon Sancho faces disciplinary action by Man Utd following controversial 'scapegoat' post
Manchester United have confirmed that winger Jadon Sancho will train away from the remainder of the first-team squad while his clash with manager Erik ten Hag is investigated.
Sancho took to social media to claim that he had been made a 'scapegoat' at United after Ten Hag publicly claimed to have dropped the winger from his squad due to poor performances in training before the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal.
That post remained online for over a week before being removed following talks between Sancho and United officials earlier this week.
United have now confirmed the action taken in a statement on their official website.
'Jadon Sancho will remain on a personal training programme away from the first-team group, pending resolution of a squad discipline issue,' the club said.
Alongside Sancho, Ten Hag is currently without fellow winger Antony, who has been granted an extended leave from his club duties to contest allegations of assault from three women in Brazil.
With winger options clearly slim, 90min understands United were offered the chance to sign free agents Anwar El Ghazi and Oussama Idrissi, although neither player is expected to be pursued by the Red Devils.
The absences of Sancho and Antony leave United with only Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri as recognised wingers in the senior squad.
Amad Diallo is working to recover from a knee injury, while youngsters Shola Shoretire and Hannibal Mejbri could be called on to help out.
On this edition of The Promised Land, part of the 90min podcast network, Scott Saunders and Rob Blanchette discuss Man Utd's options on the right wing and whether Facundo Pellistri is good enough to replace Antony!
