Manchester United is concerned about the health status of their goalkeeper Andre Onana who got injured towards the end of Cameroon's 3-0 victory over Mauritius.

The incident occurred when Onana abruptly fell to the ground and was seen clutching his groin area before heading off-field to be substituted Nimes goalkeeper, Fabrice Ondoa.

As of now, there has been no status update on Onana's injury from Cameroon's manager Rigobert Song. It's noteworthy that Song had persuaded the United goalkeeper to come out of his international retirement in the past September. The decision was reached after black and forth discussions on the team's tactics.

United administrators are keen to assess Onana closely, anticipating that he might be unavailable for the upcoming Monday match against Guinea.

The Red Devils have a game against Everton scheduled for November 26. This will be followed by a series of challenging games against teams such as Galatasaray, Newcastle United, and Chelsea. Later in December, they will also play against Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

Should Onana need a rest, he would be substituted by Altay Bayindir, a Turkish international player. It is noteworthy that Bayindir is yet to make his debut for United after his move to Fenerbahce during the summer.

Bayindir is scheduled to join the team in early 2024. Around the same time, Onana is predicted to leave for Cameroon to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations that occurs from January 13 to February 11.

There are speculations that Onana might skip the opportunity of representing his country in the tournament to focus on bringing United back in their top form. However, whether this will be Onana's final decision is yet to be confirmed.

Suppose Onana decides to play in the tournament, he might miss a considerable number of important games for United if Cameroon progresses to the later stages of the tournament.

This could also mean Onana missing out on the Premier League games against teams such as Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham United, and an away game against Aston Villa. Additionally, Onana may also miss the FA Cup third- and fourth-round matches.
