Reports have emerged that Manchester United has initiated contact with Xavi to explore his readiness for a role following his unexpected exit from Barcelona.

Only a month after reneging on his decision to resign, Xavi found his contract terminated due to differences with president Joan Laporta regarding the club's transfer strategy. Hansi Flick has been introduced as his successor since then.

Even though Xavi stated his intention to take a break from management before seeking his next position, it's reported by AS that Manchester United has already approached him.

The Manchester United administration is currently conducting an exhaustive evaluation of the season and will make a decision on the future of the existing manager, Erik ten Hag soon. The manager has reduced the stress on himself recently with a Manchester City victory in the FA Cup final.

The story suggests that, given the uncertainty surrounding Ten Hag's future, Manchester United held a casual discussion with Xavi to understand his status. However, the former midfielder made it clear that he wants to take a year off from the sport.

Xavi is also said to have declined offers from AC Milan and the South Korean national team, as well as rejecting Ajax's interest earlier this year after he initially chose to step down.

The likelihood of Xavi managing in La Liga again in the future is low as he does not wish to compete against Barca, which leaves the door open for a move to the Premier League.

Paris Saint-Germain, backed by the same Qatari owners who supported Xavi during his stint with Al Sadd, are also being proposed as a potential destination in the future.

As for United, the decision regarding Ten Hag's future will be made by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS in the following weeks. Rumours suggest the club executives have communicated to potential replacements that there's no assurance yet of them parting ways with the Dutch manager.
