Omar Berrada appointed as new CEO of Man Utd
Manchester United has officially introduced Omar Berrada, the former Manchester City executive, as the new CEO of the club.
Berrada has previously worked for Barcelona and had left his position as the chief football operations officer at City Football Group.
The past CEO of Manchester United, Richard Arnold, left the club last November. During this time, there were discussions about Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS group obtaining a 25% stake in the club. With Berrada's appointment, it's clear that he's the successor. Yet, the Red Devils stated that the current interim Patrick Stewart will keep his position until a starting date is set for Berrada.
Manchester United issued a statement: 'Manchester United is extremely pleased to declare our new CEO, Omar Berrada.
'We aim to bring football and performance on the pitch back to the forefront of everything we do. Appointing Omar is the initial step in this process.
'Omar, one of the most seasoned football executives in top-tier European football, carries with him a great deal of football and commercial acumen, demonstrated leadership success, and a drive to foster positive change across the club. At present, he holds the position of Chief Football Operations Officer for City Football Group where he oversees 11 clubs across five continents. Prior to this, he occupied senior roles at Barcelona.
'Our expressed goal is to bring back Manchester United's status as a title-winning club. We are delighted that Omar will be part of our club to aid us in realizing that goal. This way, Manchester United supporters can once again witness the red flag flying high in English, European and world football, as Sir Matt Busby once stated.
'The actual start date for Omar will be announced soon. Until then, Patrick Stewart shall carry on as the interim CEO.'
