Liverpool are on the verge of signing Federico Chiesa after agreeing a transfer fee with Juventus.

The versatile forward will now travel to England to complete a medical and wrap up the last remaining formalities of the deal, with personal terms not an issue.

Fabrizio Romano reports Liverpool will pay an initial €13m (£11m) up front plus further in add-ons. Juventus had been looking to recoup €15m (£12.6m) for the Italy international, who was not part of new head coach Thiago Motta's plans.

Having signed him from Fiorentina in 2020 for €50m (£42.3m), Juventus stand to make a staggering loss on Chiesa, who is expected to sign a four-year contract at Liverpool.

Ahead of his flight from Italy to England, Chiesa told Gazzetta dello Sport: 'I am very happy and ready for this new adventure, I would like to send a greeting to the fans of Juventus.'

The Athletic add that Chiesa has been a long-term target for Liverpool, and as he was available at a cut-price deal, the club moved to 'capitalise on the situation'. Having first made contact with Juve on Monday, the Reds have acted quickly to reach an agreement amid rival interest from Barcelona.

The 26-year-old, who is capable of playing anywhere across the front line, will leave Juventus having scored 32 goals in 131 matches.

Chiesa formed a crucial part of the Italy team that won Euro 2020, while he was also in their squad for their failed title defence at Euro 2024 earlier this summer.

He will become Liverpool's second signing in the post-Jurgen Klopp era. The Reds confirmed an agreement is in place to acquire goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili next summer and he will remain at Valencia for the 2024/25 season.
