Kylian Mbappe is obligated to communicate his future plans to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, as part of an agreement with his current team, 90min reports.

The contract Mbappe holds with PSG is set to expire at the completion of the 2023/24 season. However, Mbappe and his representatives maintained that a decision has not been made regarding whether he will continue to play for Parc des Princes or depart at the end of this season.

90min previously reported PSG's calm approach to the situation, citing a legal agreement that could see the forward returning up to €80m in bonuses if he leaves on a free transfer. Mbappe, having previously decided not to activate a one-year extension to his contract through the summer of 2025, has already forfeited a loyalty bonus of €40m.

On the other hand, Foot Mercato reported earlier this week that Mbappe had consented to join Real Madrid, an assertion that his management denied in a public statement via RMC Sport.

According to 90min, Mbappe has given his word to Al-Khelaifi, promising to inform him first about his future plans which are not yet finalized.

Mbappe desires to participate in the upcoming summer Olympics in France. As part of his current contract, PSG agreed to this if he extended his contract through 2025. However, given the Olympics' schedule from July 24 to August 10, it isn't guaranteed that Real Madrid would allow this, given Mbappe's insistence on his participation.

Playing in Euro 2024 and the Olympics, along with training camps and necessary rest periods, means that he wouldn't be available to play for any club throughout June, July and possibly August. This could complicate his integration into a new squad and environment.

Meanwhile, Al-Khelaifi expressed publicly his wish for Mbappe, a France international, to renew his contract with PSG during an interview with Rothen s'enflamme.

"Of course I want Kylian to stay, that's for sure,' stated Al-Khelaifi. 'He's the best player in the world, and the best club for Kylian is Paris. He's at the centre of everything.'
