The domestic violence trial of Jonathan Majors continued into its second day, with his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, testifying for the prosecution on Tuesday.

According to ABC News reports, the 30-year-old professional dancer Jabbari, who had met Majors on the set of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in 2021 while working as a movement coach, testified that Majors had history of aggressive behavior, predating the alleged domestic incident that resulted in Majors facing charges of assault and harassment.

On March 25, Majors was taken into custody after Jabbari was admitted to a hospital with "minor injuries to her head and neck", as per the statements of the authorities. The prosecution alleges that Jabbari was riding with Majors when she saw a text message from a woman named Cleopatra on his phone, saying, "Wish I was kissing you right now". This led to her taking his phone, and subsequently to the conflict. Majors has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

In June, Majors reportedly lodged a counter domestic incident report against Jabbari. On October 25, the NYPD apprehended Jabbari on charges of misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief. However, the Manhattan district attorney’s office decided not to proceed with the case, citing lack of prosecutorial merit, stated the office's announcement in October.

According to Jabbari's testimony, Majors was a part of her life constantly following their first date. Majors expressed his love for Jabbari early on and penned poetry for her, making her feel “very loved and cared for”.

However, as Assistant District Attorney Michael Perez stated in his opening remarks, this “honeymoon phase” gave way once Majors allegedly showed his “real self”. He reportedly lost his temper when Jabbari mentioned her ex-boyfriend during her first interaction with his dogs. This was the first time Jabbari said she was frightened of him.

Jabbari detailed another incident which occurred in July 2022 when Majors “exploded”. She shared that this outburst was fierce and violent. During this incident, Majors reportedly hurled a candle at the wall, resulting in a dent. This incident was evidenced by a photo of the dent which was shown to the jurors. “I took the photo because the shift in his temper was something that I was aware of,” Jabbari said. “I just wanted to remember. I know I kept forgiving him, but I wanted to have a bit of a memory of it.”

Their conflicts emotionally bound them, Jabbari recalled. “Then he started shaking and crying and saying he’s a monster,” she remembered. Evidence of Majors' behavior against her was also provided in the form of a recording she made on her iPhone.

While recounting a September 2022 occurrence where Majors accused her of being an alcoholic and disparaged her, Jabbari requested a break. Majors, along with his girlfriend Meagan Good, were present in the court.

Jurors were also presented with a recording taken by Jabbari of Majors reprimanding her. Majors can be heard saying, “I do great things for my culture and for the world. . .The woman that supports me needs to be a great woman. Two nights ago, you did not do that." Jabbari explained that she understood his words to mean that "he had to come first," and she "took the full blame to calm him down."

According to the presiding judge, the jury was given these accounts as background context, not as indication or suggestion of Majors having a pattern of conduct fitting the charges he is standing trial for.

Majors’s criminal defense lawyer, Priya Chaudhry has maintained her client’s innocence and said during opening statements that, “In revenge, [Jabbari] made these false allegations to ruin Mr. Majors and take away everything he spent his life working for.” If convicted on his misdemeanor charges, Majors faces up to a year in jail, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
