Meghan Markle reclaims her shoulders in 2023, says Vanity Fair

Devoted followers of the royal family and the saga surrounding Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were not taken aback when Meghan didn’t attend King Charles III's coronation in London last May. However, many were surprised when paparazzi photos showed Meghan hiking in Santa Barbara, sporting leggings, sunglasses, and her trusty Merrell boots.
Her fashion choices have remained noteworthy. One extraordinary moment came when the Duchess shrugged off her J.Crew jacket, unveiling her fit and bronzed biceps. This small act mirrored her wardrobe choices throughout the year, which have been comfortable and offbeat, exposing a bit more skin compared to her wardrobe during her time as a royal.
In 2023, Meghan and Harry were discussed less for their actions and more for events that occurred to them. From a car chase saga in May in New York City, to the end of their Spotify contract, making headlines constantly. The Hollywood Reporter even categorized them as one of the year’s "losers". Interestingly though, sources close to the couple indicated to People that they are happier than ever, a sentiment that can be seen reflected in Meghan's fashion choices.

Post-royal departure, Meghan kept a low profile, owing to the pandemic and the challenges that come with knee-deep parenthood. However, in 2023, she was more active in making public appearances than ever. From attending Beyoncé concerts, Taylor Swift Eras night, to a hockey game, Meghan enjoyed various outings. Her attire during these times signified her departure from royal-style dressing.
She flaunted tight, strapless dresses for party-like events. Examples include the bronze Johanna Ortiz outfit worn at the Ms. Foundation Awards and a turquoise Cult Gaia gown for the Invictus Games. Meghan has also been donning chic, shoulder-baring outfits for formal occasions. Casual paparazzi encounters showed her in comfy tank dresses.

At the Variety Power of Women awards, Meghan attracted attention in her one shoulder tan Proenza Schouler gown. The brand later revealed that this was a customized version of their Rosa dress. Meghan also publicly discussed the renewed interest in her previous TV show, ‘Suits’, hinting at her plans for future projects.
The year kicked off with the release of Prince Harry’s memoir, ‘Spare’, which opened up about their past struggles and disputes with the royal family. After spending some quiet months, Meghan has been focusing on laying the groundwork for a successful 2024. Insiders told Us Weekly that the couple has been declining multiple offers, wanting to emphasize quality over quantity. While a return to 'Suits' might not be completely off the table, Meghan is most interested in directing and being behind the camera.
The report also indicated that Meghan and Harry want to move in a different direction concerning the royals; they have "said what they needed to say," the source said. "They're moving on."
