Guide to Watching and Live Streaming the 2024 Emmys | Vanity Fair

The 2024 Emmys, television's premier awards night that was delayed from its originally planned September airdate due to dual strikes by writers and actors in 2023, will finally take place six months after the nominations were first announced. Viewers can anticipate yet another Emmy event this fall featuring eligible programs like the final season of The Crown and the fifth season of Fargo.
The 75th annual Emmy Awards ceremony will be aired live on Fox on Monday, January 15. The network is betting on a memorable show. First-time host Anthony Anderson, an Emmy nominee for lead comedy actor seven seasons in a row on ABC's sitcom Black-ish, will try to impress following disappointing hosting from comedian Jo Koy at the recent Golden Globes.
The nominees for the 2024 Emmys are no strangers to pop culture since the eligibility period for these awards began in June 2022. Contenders include season one of FX's The Bear, the final seasons of HBO's Succession and Barry, and the possibly final season of Apple TV+ comedy Ted Lasso. Netflix's Beef, which scored impressively at the Globes, is expected to lead the limited-series categories. It is expected that the leading nominee, The Last of Us (with 24 nominations), and season two of The White Lotus (with 23 nods), will both walk away with some significant awards.
The details to catch the 2024 Emmys live are as follows: The ceremony will take place at Los Angeles's Peacock Theater on January 15. It will air live on Fox and will be available for on-demand streaming on Hulu the next day. The broadcast will begin at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.
E! will present pre-ceremony coverage with Live From E!: Countdown to the Emmys starting at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET, followed by red carpet coverage at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET. An After-party coverage will start right after the Emmys at 8 p.m. PT/11 p.m. ET.
The already completed Creative Arts Emmys, which awarded early wins to The Last of Us, The Bear, Netflix's Addams Family spin-off, Wednesday, and The White Lotus, can be streamed on Hulu.
For those without cable, streaming of the 2024 Emmys can be accessed live on YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, FuboTV, DirecTV Stream, or Sling. Despite the fact that some of these services offer free trials, if these options have been used up, streaming on Hulu (with a subscription) on Tuesday, January 16, is the suggested option.
Indeed, the Emmy Awards were initially set for September and were postponed due to the WGA strike. The Emmys, unlike the Tony Awards, are heavily dependent on writers and actors, whose categories and presence attract viewers. Although the ceremony’s date was pushed back, voting took place from August 17 to 28 as usual.
Despite the oddity of honoring shows from 2023 and 2022 at the so-called 2024 Emmys, producers aim to infuse a timeless element to the show. Casts from two of Fox's most adored 1990s series—Martin and Ally McBeal—will reunite for the ceremony. The aim of Emmy Awards executive producers Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay to showcase the history of TV fits into this broader strategy of infusing nostalgia, according to an interview with Variety.
