How do we adjust to climate change? How can Alzheimer’s disease be combated? What is required to establish a fairer society? The researchers mentioned on the current year's SN 10: Scientists to Watch list are striving to solve portions of these and other large-scale challenges.

For the eighth year, Science News is honoring 10 early- to mid-career scientists. These scientists have creative ideas and unique abilities, and are using these qualities to shape our future and our perception of ourselves. But their achievements are not solely self-driven. They give credit to their parents, mentors, and colleagues for their accomplishments.

Many underscore the strength of teamwork, the worth of diverse viewpoints, and the necessity of guiding the upcoming generation of scientists. Regarding the future, if you know a person who should be on the ensuing SN 10 list, forward their name, affiliation and a brief description of their work to [email protected]. — Elizabeth Quill, Executive Editor
