Upcoming talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy hinted by Harry Kane
Tottenham striker Harry Kane has hinted that he may have talks with chairman Daniel Levy in the upcoming weeks. This announcement comes at a time when the future of the England captain is once again uncertain, as he rapidly approaches the final year of his Spurs contract.
Kane expressed a desire to leave Spurs in the summer of 2021 when Manchester City attempted to sign him. However, he always maintained that he did not refuse to train to force a transfer.
Bayern Munich has been vocal about wanting to sign Kane for the past year, and 90min has recently reported on Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain's interest in the 29-year-old. 90min also understands that Spurs are preparing for Chelsea's interest in their talisman.
Currently, talks regarding Kane's contract are on hold. Discussions will continue once a new permanent manager is appointed – Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique have both been approached about the position, but Spurs are also considering other options, including Xabi Alonso and Ruben Amorim. No decision has been made yet.
'That’s down to the club,” Kane said regarding the hunt for a new manager. “If I end up speaking with the chairman towards the end of the season, then I’m sure he’ll fill me in on what he’s thinking.' Kane's statement hints that he may have talks with Levy soon.
“But ultimately, we’ve got three more games, and we don’t want to look too far ahead and get too carried away. The club will make the best decision for everyone, for the players, the fans, for the club in general, so we’ll just have to wait and see what that is.”
90min understands that Spurs are willing to include Kane in key decisions, such as hiring the new head coach, to convince him to renew his contract. The hierarchy is touching base with the wider squad to gauge their feelings over the job. By consulting with Kane, they hope that he will be entirely satisfied with the decision and sign a new deal.
