Chelsea appoints Frank Lampard as interim manager

According to 90min sources, Frank Lampard has agreed to become Chelsea's caretaker manager until the end of the season, with the final details currently being finalised. Lampard has a storied career at Stamford Bridge, having made 648 appearances and scoring 211 goals for the club, and previously managed a youthful Chelsea team with success, winning 52.4% of his games. The decision to search for a new temporary coach has come from Bruno Saltor's unwillingness to continue in the role. Lampard’s willingness to come back to the club where he spent 13 years as a player has been key to negotiations going smoothly. Despite Lampard accepting an interim role, sources have said that he still sees himself as a manager and would be keen to find a permanent post. However, Chelsea has indicated that they are set for talks with Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique for a permanent managerial role.
