Michel Platini, Marco van Basten, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Milan Baros: these are just a few of the all-time greats to top the scoring charts at a European Championship.

Such grand occasions can cultivate, shape and define careers, and there are only a few superior legacy-definers for the great sharpshooters than a Golden Boot triumph at a major tournament.

Not all Golden Boot victories are equal, mind. Platini's nine-goal haul at Euro 84 remains far more impressive than Fernando Torres' trio of goals for false nine preferrers Spain in 2012, for example.

Own goals are leading the way at the top of the Euro 2024 scoring charts, while disallowed Romelu Lukaku goals, of which there have been three, would be making a strong claim.

There have been just ten players to score multiple goals this summer, and two of those, Georges Mikautadze and Ivan Schranz have exited the tournament. These two are level at the top with three goals alongside the excellent Jamal Musiala, who's starred for the hosts and added to his tally against Denmark in the round of 16.

Harry Kane was the choice of many to top the scoring charts heading into the tournament, and he's scored twice despite England's struggles going forward. Jude Bellingham salvaged England's campaign with a stunning acrobatic kick in the dying embers of their round of 16 tie against Slovakia and has moved onto two goals as well.

Niclas Fullkrug has had an impact off the bench for Germany, scoring twice, as has Kai Havertz - Julian Nagelsmann's preferred option up top.

Kylian Mbappe has just one goal from the penalty spot but will be expected to climb towards the top should France enjoy a deep run.
