Erik ten Hag unveils promising injury news for Man Utd ahead of Everton clash, yet there is one concern
For their upcoming match against Everton, Andre Onana and Luke Shaw are confirmed as fit and ready to play for Manchester United. However, the fitness of Rasmus Hojlund remains uncertain.
Cameroonian international, Onana, 27 years old, suffered an injury during his international call-up. This led to doubts over his ability to participate in United's game at Goodison Park.
Positive news for Erik ten Hag, however, as Onana was able to partake in standard training on Friday. The summer addition from Inter is set to join Shaw, who is making a comeback after three months due to an injury.
Shaw's return comes as a much-needed plus for United as the team grapples with injuries to players such as Jonny Evans, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro. Hojlund's fitness is still up in the air following a hamstring injury during the 1-0 victory against Luton Town before the international break.
'Andre is alright,' Ten Hag reassured during his pre-match press conference. 'He participated in training today, he's doing well. As for Rasmus: it's going to be close. He's training and making excellent progress but we'll have to wait until tomorrow for a final decision.'
'Luke Shaw will be ready for Sunday, he will be part of the squad. Jonny is recovering, but he won't be ready for Everton. His return shouldn't be much longer.'
In spite of criticism for United's disappointing Champions League performance, there seems to be a slight shift in mood. The Manchester-based team has secured four victories out of their last five Premier League matches.
Brentford, Sheffield United, Fulham and Luton have each been defeated by United both at home and during away games. However, all wins were not without struggle. Over this period, Ten Hag's team was notably outclassed by Manchester City and Newcastle, with the latter match ending in a sobering 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
This Sunday's game at Goodison Park leads to a crucial Champions League match against Galatasaray. The schedule looks challenging, with games against Newcastle and Chelsea at the beginning of December.
