Erik ten Hag Slams 'Unreliable' Man Utd Team following Bournemouth Demolition
Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, voiced his concerns about the inconsistent performance of his team after suffering a devastating defeat against Bournemouth on Saturday.
This weekend, Bournemouth handed the Red Devils a significant humiliation, dominating their rivals completely. This win marked Bournemouth's first ever victory at Old Trafford.
Although United seemed to be regaining form with a win against Chelsea on Wednesday, they witnessed another bitter defeat, highlighting their inconsistent run in the current season.
In his post-match press conference, ten Hag expressed his dissatisfaction with the team's performance and concern over their ongoing inconsistency.
'The team's performance was not up to the mark, and the inconsistency is disappointing. I was hoping for a similar run as we had against Chelsea, but the game's start was very unsatisfactory,' said Ten Hag.
'We put in substantial efforts to get back in the game after being on the back foot. However, a mistake in the build-up and lack of quality in defence was very disappointing.'
'Despite putting in efforts, we failed to equalise the score. After the second goal, we lost hold of the game, and this is something that needs improvement.'
'The start was not ideal, and we have to be more careful against efficient transitioning teams like Bournemouth. Despite several attacks, we failed to change the course of the game.'
'The team needs to be prepared for every game, and as a manager, I take responsibility for that. Overall, the way we started was very disappointing and needs improvement.'
'We lack consistency and need to work towards improving it. We have the potential, but we need to be consistent in every game.'
'As a unit, we need to improve and get tougher, ready for the game from the start. If we don't play at our best in this league, we can be easily defeated, like what happened today.'
'Making things easy for teams like Bournemouth is not acceptable. Despite the team's efforts, conceding a goal so easily is not acceptable.'
Bruno Fernandes' intercepted pass from the back led to United's downfall in the initial stages of the game, resulting in a goal by Dominic Solanke.
Philip Billing and Marcos Senesi scored in the second half, leading to a 3-0 lead for Bournemouth. Dango Ouattara's goal in the final stage was ruled out, sparing further damage to United.
United's loss denied them a chance to level their points with fourth-placed Manchester City before their match against Luton Town. Depending on other results, United could fall as low as to the eighth position by the end of the weekend.
