Erik ten Hag Calls on Marcus Rashford to Regain His Place at Man Utd
The manager of Manchester United, Erik ten Hag, has challenged Marcus Rashford to reclaim his position in the team following his relegation to the bench during the midweek victory over Chelsea.
Last season, Rashford achieved a career-first by scoring 30 goals in all competitions, but his form has faltered in recent months, resulting in him scoring only twice so far in the 2023/24 season.
The 25-year-old was conspicuously absent from the starting lineup for the first time this season during a high-pressure match against Chelsea at Old Trafford, where United was under tremendous pressure not to concede any points.
According to Ten Hag in his most recent press conference, 'Rashford is a remarkably skilled player. It's impossible to rely solely on XI players, and he can't play in every match. His current form is not on par with last year's, but I am certain he will rebound.'
The United manager used the stories of other players who have recently made compelling cases for him to select them due to noticeable improvements in their performances and productivity.
'I previously made similar statements about Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire, it's up to them,' Ten Hag clarified, hinting that a swift solution may not be available. 'Every week, the team will practice and the top performers will assemble the best team to compete.'

Both McTominay and Maguire appeared to be on the brink of departing Old Trafford during the summer, with neither seeming to fit into Ten Hag's future plans. However, both have since made a dramatic return to the squad and made significant contributions, with Maguire even winning Premier League Player of the Month in November.
Since scoring twice to secure a key comeback victory over Brentford in early October, McTominay hasn't missed a Premier League start. In the meantime, Maguire has managed to keep Raphael Varane, a 2018 World Cup and four-time Champions League winner, on the bench for the past two months due to the absences of other players.
With Rashford not starting against Chelsea, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony both delivered impressive performances on the wings.
