Dolce & Gabbana: Dangerous Diva & Rock

Published on Feb 24, 2024

At Milan's Saturday fashion event, the dynamic duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana showcased their unique mastery, creating a signature Dolce & Gabbana collection, threaded by the theme of dangerous diva & rock.

Domenico and Stefano can, unlike any designers anywhere, produce extreme excitement. This was evident in their 90% black collection, featuring playful models adorned in numerous lingerie designs, accented by berets and fascinators, with hair secured in chignons, evoking a classic French-café society vibe.

The collection placed a huge emphasis on outstanding tailoring. It comprised innovative fluid tuxedos morphed into mess jackets, minimal dinner jackets with elongated sleeves, dramatic undertaker coats, and distinguished town-coats for the refined female. A particular standout was an extravagant cavalry officer's hussar jacket paired with black silk knickers, a cummerbund, and endless legs. There has scarcely been such a grand display of tights and bras in a leading fashion house – a departure from the usually subtle opulence.

The entire collection, with its commanding shoulders, unusual pockets, and bold lapels did not bear a single logo but resoundingly embodied the 'Dolce & Gabbana' aesthetic. The collection oozed an effortlessly cool, café society vibe, an image of a beautiful, confident woman preparing for a lover's rendezvous.

The show featured renowned models like Amber Valletta in an eye-catching marabou feather and grosgrain ribbon coat, evoking a fantasy bird look, and Eva Herzigova in a captivating gamine appearance. The fashion show reached its climax amidst loud cheers, applause, and foot stamping as Naomi Campbell made a grand entrance in a lace bra, tights, a sheer slip, and dominatrix gloves, her shoulders rolling dramatically.

The designers concluded the show with a rapturous applause, exemplifying how they stayed authentically true to their design aesthetic.
