Did Taylor Swift Support Donald Trump? No, But He Believes Otherwise | Vanity Fair

Did Taylor Swift endorse Donald Trump for the presidency in the 2024 election? Only in his wildest dreams. Of course, the Republican candidate wants you to think she has, according to a post he made on his Truth Social platform Sunday, chockablock with AI-generated images and false hope for the “unusually beautiful” singer’s support.

“I accept!” Trump, who has been impeached twice and is a convicted felon, wrote alongside an AI-generated image of Swift as Uncle Sam with the message “I want YOU to vote for Donald Trump” and a collage of images of young women wearing “Swifties for Trump” tees. Notably, none of those young women is Taylor Swift. Also notably, one of the four headlines included in Trump’s post is labeled in all-caps, bright-red text as satire.

The X account @amuse, whose bio on the site proclaims allegiance to both the Trump/Vance ticket and conservative headlines, originally shared the post with the messaging, “SHOCK: After the cancellation of the Taylor Swift concert being targeted by ISIS, Swifties have determined they want a strong leader in the White House. The Swifties For Trump movement is real!” The headline refers to Swift’s recently canceled Eras Tour shows in Vienna, where law enforcement discovered a plan to attack the sold-out concert. The suspects in the attack had reportedly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State online.

Even the original handle thinks it’s “LOL” that their candidate of choice reshared their nonsensical post, and highlighted the “satire” tag on the image, reiterating in another post that “from time to time I will use satire to make a point or just to get a laugh.”

The other posts recirculated in Trump’s fauxdorsement acceptance are all from the same X account, one @akafacehots. The pro-Trump handle has a habit of circulating shoddy photo edits and handwaving at a “Swifties for Trump” “movement.”

For example: “This picture drives the leftwing extremists CRAZY!” the account wrote alongside a photo of Swift onstage in a shirt reading “Who’s Kamala Harris anyway? Ew.” If those leftwing extremists are design snobs, then yes, totally, this would drive them crazy, because the photoshopping of Harris’s name onto the shirt is so obvious to the naked and untrained eye—you can plainly see the outline of the text box around the swapped-in lettering. The font doesn't even come close to matching. The alignment is off. In no way does it look real. It’s truly wild, and, yes, might drive a person crazy with how bad it is.

Another picture that the account shared claiming it drives liberals “insane”: A photoshopped image of Swift at last year’s Grammys, a pro-Trump flag plopped over her Schiaparelli gown.

While Swift has not yet made an endorsement in the presidential election, she’s made her feelings about Trump clear in the past. Spoiler: They are not positive.

In 2020, the singer tweeted at Trump, “After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? ‘When the looting starts the shooting starts’??? We will vote you out in November.”

Even Trump knows she’s not into him, saying in an interview, “I think she’s liberal. She probably doesn’t like Trump.”

Swift is currently midway through a run of shows at London’s Wembley Stadium. Her final show in the city is scheduled for Tuesday evening.
