It has been reported that Chelsea are planning to commence additional contract negotiations with midfielder Mason Mount, as 90min understands that the Blues are feeling positive about securing an agreement. Mount's current contract is due to expire in the next 12 months, and he has been informed that he will be sold if he continues to turn down the opportunity to extend. Liverpool is among the Premier League teams who are pursuing his signature. However, communication between Mount and Chelsea has not broken down, and 90min sources have confirmed that another round of talks is scheduled shortly.

Chelsea is searching for a new manager to take over from the recently departed Graham Potter. 90min understands that Chelsea, who have continuously been optimistic about their chances of retaining Mount, believes that their new plans are impressive enough to persuade the academy graduate to stay. In the intense recruitment process underway, Chelsea's decision-makers are striving to choose a boss with experience at the highest level. Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, and Mauricio Pochettino are all among the contenders. The Blues believe there is renewed confidence that Mount will share their ambition and positivity.

Mount is understood to be increasingly optimistic about the club's future due to Chelsea's managerial plans. Although an agreement is still far from being agreed, Chelsea is confident they can convince Mount to stay. The Blues recently revealed their willingness to agree to a shorter contract after they tied left-back Ben Chilwell down to a four-year contract instead of the usual six, seven, or eight years handed out to various players throughout the season. Chelsea's renewed confidence is another setback for Liverpool, who identified Mount as a top midfield target after conceding defeat in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.

Chelsea has confirmed that four key players will accompany the squad for their UEFA Champions League meeting with Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Ben Chilwell has consented to extend his contract until 2027.
