Aston Villa are determined not to accept any bids for midfielder Douglas Luiz in January, according to 90min. His performance has recently attracted interest from top clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool.

In 2022, Arsenal tried to secure Luiz with three separate bids, but they were unsuccessful. However, they have still been keeping an eye on this talented Brazil international, who performed exceptionally under Unai Emery's coaching. As a result, Villa has made its way into the list of top four contenders.

As per 90min, sources have revealed that Man City are interested in Luiz. Interestingly, Man City previously had the player on their books for two years, but he never got to the field to play for them.

Luis was bought by City in 2017 from Vasco da Gama and immediately sent on a two-year loan to Girona, a partner side. After his loan period, he was sold to Villa for a fee of approximately £15m.

Liverpool has also expressed interest in Luiz, but haven't found any indication that Luiz is intending to leave Villa.

'His performance is very good. His commitment is impressive,' said Villa boss Unai Emery after their 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. 'I am very pleased with him and of course, I want him to stay. I believe he is happy being with us.'

'His performance for his national team has been excellent. And his performance today was outstanding. I want him.'

All the interested parties have been informed by Villa that Luiz is not on the market for sale, and they have no intention of entertaining any offers for the Brazil international in January.

Luiz, who has over 150 Premier League games under his belt with Villa, has delivered five goals and two assists this season. Aston Villa, with 28 points from 13 matches, now sits at the fourth position in the standings.

Luiz signed a new contract of four years in 2022 while Arsenal was trying to secure him. He still has a contract with Villa Park that extends up to 2026, which puts Villa under no pressure of entertaining any offers soon.

Luiz is eager to guide Villa into the Champions League and is hopeful of winning some silverware. Villa is one of the favorites to secure a win in the Europa Conference League this year.
